It's not you.
It's me.
It may have something to do with volunteering in 2 classrooms, a few bumps and lacerations (more on that later), wrangling 3 kids for flu shots, laundry piled to the ceiling, hosting playdates, busy shifts at work, and...well...you know...LIFE!
But, anyway...
Tink has been thirsty.
Look. I don't want to be THAT mom, but...
Have I noticed that she's asking for a drink ALL OF THE TIME?
Yes.
Have I tested her blood sugar?
Yes.
Have her numbers been normal?
Yes.
Does she have other symptoms?
No.
So be it.
So the other morning, she woke up and immediately asked for something to drink. This has become the norm for her lately, but on that day, I was busy doing something else when she dragged her beadhead into the kitchen.
She insisted she couldn't wait.
I told her she had to.
Then there were tears.
Apparently, behind my back, she climbed up to the cupboard to get herself a cup.
On the way back down, she hit her chin on the countertop.
All that drama for a drink of water!?!?!
This is one of the things that diabetes does to me. Sometimes it makes me see the world through sugar coated sun glasses.
There are some days when everyone around me seems to have the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes.
And others when I hardly notice.
I'll be keeping tabs on Tink for now...
Now where's that bottle of wine?

UGH...here is to hoping someday you and I can share that bottle on my back porch. LOVE YOU!

ReplyDeleteOuch! Hope she is doing okay. Wish everyone in the DOC lived in the same town so we could get together and knock back a few...probably on a weekly basis the way things seem to go in "D" world. Hope you have a much better week!!!
ReplyDeleteI have those same worries about Leo, everytime he asks for a drink of water. Sucks that we can't just relax. I'll be thinking of you and Tink and praying it's just a phase. Hang in there!

ReplyDeletePoor baby! That looks painful. Hopefully she's just thirsty...my daughter always looks worried when she feels she's extra thirsty - I feel bad that diabetes has made us all suspicious.
ReplyDeleteI've been going through that with Max for the longest time. He's always thirsty. But as with you and Tink, we've tested and his numbers have always been fine and he shows no other symptoms. Still, I can't help but go there...
