Rise and Shine

BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP
BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP
BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP

What time is it?
What is that sound?
Is that Dexcom?
Her pump?
(I worked until 1 am...she got a correction...at some point I rechecked her...the details are kind of hazy...)

Oh wait.
It stopped.
Must have been a dream.

BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP
BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP
BEEP   BEEP   BEEP   BEEP

"Hey, Sweetie.  I need to check your pump."
"Then can I sleep some more?"
"Yes, Baby.  I'll be real quiet."
"I don't want to wake up yet."
"Okay.  You don't have too."

PUMP EMPTY!?!?!?!?!
It's been alarming for 2 hours, but I didn't hear it.
DRAT!
Mom Of The Year!
Sigh.
Go through the motions.
Refill pump.
Reconnect.
We'll deal with a site change later.

"Mom?"
"Yes?"
"I'm awake now.  And it's not even a school day."

  1. oh, Wendy I'm sorry. It's so difficult to run on empty all day long. I think this is such a difficult aspect of parenting a CWD - I hope you got rest later and the rest of your weekend is filled with greatness:)

  3. Oh many times I have thought those beeps were just a dream. Hope you both got some sleep afterwards.

  4. And...oh how many times I wish those beeps were ACTUALLY a dream and not an alert that something needs to be tended to. (((HUGS)))

  5. awwww...i have to say, those beeps are really not all that loud. I have gone back to sleep after thinking I heard beeping only to wake up again and hear that faint sound..then check the pump and realize something is wrong! oy!

  6. You are just used to the sound! They need to have choices of alarms so you can switch yours up from time to time. Kind of like wearing perfume . . . stick with me here . . . .when you first start wearing a new scent you only have to put on a few dabs. 6 months go by and you practically have to bathe yourself in it to notice if you have it on. See?! I made a correlating point, right?!

Hope you are napping right now!!!!

  7. Oh man. That's got to be tough to wake up to. The few times I've had to wake up to check my own, I can barely get up to do it.
