The Thanksgiving Recap

I had a plan, my friends.

Dose now.  Eat later.

I know.  It's crazy.
(And, I'm NOT advising you try it either -- there's your disclaimer, folks!)

I tested about every 90 minutes - 2 hours once the feasting began...regardless of when/what she was nibbling on.  She ate.  I dosed.  I tested.  That's how it worked.

We didn't see a number over 140 the entire day.  In fact, most numbers were 90 - 110. Armed with her pump, IOB, and 5 years of SWAG experience, we were ready.

I guessed high and figured we'd make it up later if necessary.  I was throwing mad-crazy doses of insulin out there as if they were handfuls of confetti.  BOOM!  BOOM!  BOOM! Once it's released, you can't take it back.

I saw a nibble here -- BOOM!  A nibble there -- BOOM!  I snuck in inconspicuously with her Ping Remote and was blasting her from all sides.  Buzz Buzz Buzz...no bite went unnoticed. No carbs were safe from this mother's hover.

She snacked.  She grazed.  She ate pie.  And caramel popcorn.  And a few chocolate candies.

And we conquered the blood sugar madness.

(Ehum, I was ROARING there, for effect's sake.)

I'm incredibly thankful for friends who are like family.  We gathered, we ate, we laughed, we loved.  The kids played outside. (Btw, this probably helped us achieve blood sugar nirvana.) People were thoughtful to prepare dishes that didn't contain gluten...as I mentioned, they're like family to us.

We are blessed, my friends.

God is good!
